Q1: Which versions of Microsoft Outlook and Team Foundation Server (TFS) does TeamCompanion support?
TeamCompanion supports Outlook 2013 and 2010, both 64-bit and 32-bit version, Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2003. Supported Team Foundation Server (TFS) versions are TFS 2013 and all earlier versions and Visual Studio Online. On the client side, user needs to install the appropriate version of Team Explorer (either Team Explorer 2013, 2012, 2010, 2008 or 2005).
Q2: What are the prerequisites for TeamCompanion?
Before installing TeamCompanion you need to install the following:
- Microsoft Outlook (with .Net Programmability Support feature enabled)
- Team Explorer (TFS client). Team Explorer 2013 can be downloaded from here. There you will also find detailed instructions on how to install Team Explorer.
All other prerequisites are packaged within the TeamCompanion setup package.
Q3: Why do I have to install Team Explorer in order to use TeamCompanion?
Team Explorer is the Microsoft TFS client that needs to be installed on the client machine prior to installing TeamCompanion. Team Explorer contains necessary software components needed by TeamCompanion to connect to the TFS.
